Our Care Houses

A new way of living with care and dignity

At Hawthorndale Care Village, we embrace an innovative model of care inspired by the internationally renowned De Hogeweyk dementia village in the Netherlands. Our approach offers Residents the best of both worlds — a secure, supportive environment and the freedom to enjoy everyday life with dignity, independence, and joy.

Set among beautifully landscaped gardens and serene pathways, the Village features 13 individual Care Houses, each home to 6–7 Residents. Designed to feel just like home, every Care House provides a warm, familiar setting where meaningful connections can flourish.

Living well, every day

No matter the level of support required — whether residential, hospital, dementia, palliative, long-term chronic, or respite level of care — the experience is always individualised to meet each person’s unique needs.

Each Care House is a warm, shared home featuring its own kitchen, comfortable lounge, and easy access to inviting outdoor spaces — creating a sense of familiarity, comfort, and connection for all who live there.

Care House features:

  • Colour-coded houses – Each house is uniquely colour-coded with matching letterboxes, making recognition simple and intuitive.

  • Home-cooked meals – Delicious, personalised meals are prepared in-house by the House Lead, tailored to Residents’ preferences and guided by our Dietitian for optimal nutrition and enjoyment.

  • Private comforts – Every bedroom includes a private toilet, basin, and individual heat pump for year-round comfort.

  • Standard and premium options

    • Standard Houses feature a shared main bathroom with toilet, basin, shower, and ceiling hoist.

    • Premium Houses offer the added luxury of a private ensuite in every room.

  • Laundry in every home – Each house has its own laundry facilities for personal clothing, helping maintain a sense of routine and familiarity.

  • Open plan living – Spacious lounge and kitchen/dining areas provide an inviting, communal space where Residents can gather, share meals, and enjoy daily life together.
