Awarded the ONZM in 2005 for services to rugby refereeing, he is a Board Member of Invercargill Licensing Trust (ILT) and has been a Board Member of Calvary Hospital Southland since 2013.  Both his parents resided at Calvary and his family were very impressed with the compassionate care they received in their time there. Married to Carolyn with four adult children, Paddy is a passionate supporter of The Hawthorndale Care Village, as the current way New Zealand approaches care for dementia patients needs to change.

Sarah Hannan

Since returning to Southland in 2008, Sarah has been in management roles with Southland Chamber of Commerce and then as Programme Director for the Southland Regional Development Strategy (SoRDS). Previously, Sarah held senior marketing and management positions in tourism, education, advertising and manufacturing in Queenstown and Christchurch and spent two years working in London in contract marketing.

Scott O’Donnell

An Invercargill native, Scott kicked off his career in senior financial roles within the Banking & Telco sectors in Wellington/London. In 1995, he and his wife, Jocelyn, made a pivotal move back to Invercargill, where he began working for HW Richardson Group (HWR) – a transport company founded by Joc’s late father, Bill Richardson in 1996. Scott & Joc continue to govern the HWR group. Scott quickly climbed the ranks from GM to Managing Director, a role he owned from 2006 to 2015 during the growth and expansion of the business.

Under his leadership, HWR has evolved into a billion-dollar conglomerate, spanning 50 businesses and employing 2,500 staff across New Zealand and Australia. He retired to take over the CBD project (chair and project completed in 2023) and spearheaded the $180 million redevelopment of Invercargill’s CBD. He also works closely with Joc, managing Transport World and its various tourism attractions.

Scott’s parents both died at Calvery so wanted to help, given the great care they received. They purchased the land at Tay Street where the Hawthorndale Care Village construction project is being built and funded a $10m loan to make it happen. Scott plays a key role in the development of the Hawthorndale Care Village, he is an active Board Member, and he shares his great leadership skills and business knowledge.
